Bottle Drive and Tree Chipping
Cordova Bay Soccer Club

Once again our annual bottle drive was a huge success.

This year we raised $6,500 - bettering last year's results by almost $500.  On top of this the tree chipping service organized by the Cascades women's team raised $740, so in all yesterday's fundraising events raised $7,240.  This money will go toward repaying the no-interest loan we received from the Munipality of Saanich when we constructed the turf field last fall.

On behalf of the Executive, my thanks to all the youth teams, coaches and parents for their efforts collecting the bottles and cans.  Hopefully everyone had a good time and took advantage of the free food and resreshments we offered at the concession.  And thanks as well to the adult teams, particularly those players from the Bobcats and Orange men's teams, for volunteering long hours sorting and shifting literally tens of thousands of bottles and cans.

As always, plans are already underway for next year's bottle drive so start saving your refundables.  Perhaps next year we can reach $8,000!
