Cordova Bay Turf Burn 2009

Volunteers are needed for the Adult Co-Ed "Turf Burn" Tournament being held at Frank's Field, July 24 - 26th.  As Cordova Bay is hosting, we are inviting the entire CB membership to be involved - and the more the merrier to ensure that our first annual event is a success!

Areas of help include:
- set up / take down
- first aid (must be currently qualified)
- concession, beer garden
- security, clean up crew

Please email me at timvasuhi@shaw.ca <mailto:timvasuhi@shaw.ca> with your availability. If you are playing in the tournament, I will work around your schedule.

Rama & Bibi



Here is a photo of the first child to receive one of the cb jerseys that were donated. We have just begun our family visits and this fellow, 'Rama' who is 10 yrs old, has lost both parents to HIV/Aids and live with his grandmother(Bibi) who is about 85 yrs old. He was thrilled to receive it and when we drove past his place the next day he was wearing it and waving to us.....We have met some of the children from the Galilaya orphan centre and will be returning next saturday to  spend the day with them all...120 of them, all orphans. The kids down here are fanatics with soccer...they play with a ball made of twine and roots all 'balled' up. They have amazing skills and would show up any of our top teams in Victoria no problem.

Thanks again for the support and the uniforms you have given us. In our world it is such a small contribution but to them it is everything!!

Lower Island Soccer Association

The LISA is interested to receive input from the soccer community as to how we can improve soccer within our District.  A brief soccer survey has been prepared to generate feedback this is completely anonymous.  The results will be shared with the clubs and made public via the LISA website after the closing date of 31st May 2009.

We are still Accepting Players

We are still accepting players in both competitive and recreational divisions, but spaces are limited.
Registration closes Monday April 20 at 5pm. *

Players who have registered and remitted their payment will receive their team assignments and game schedules Saturday April 18th .
The full game schedule will be posted on the website early next week.

Uniforms will be Available for Pick-Up
at the Lochside Park Clubhouse from 5:30pm next Wednesday (April 22).
