The Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the Cordova Bay Soccer Club will take place at the Lochside Park Clubhouse on Thursday May 15, commencing at 7:30 PM.
All club members are invited to attend and participate in the AGM. The purpose of the meeting is to elect the board members for the 2008/09 season, to approve the financial statement for the 2007/08 season and for board members and committee chairs to report on significant activities during the year. This will likely include an update on the Turf Field Project and team formation planning for 2008/09 and beyond.
And, as always, the club is actively seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to offer their time and energy as board members. Anyone that might be interested in standing for the board is asked to contact Drew Smyth (president@cordovabaysoccer.org) or Bronwyn Phillips (secretary@cordovabaysoccer.org).
The following board positions are presently vacant:
Equipment Coordinator
Sponsorships Coordinator
I look forward to seeing you on the 15th.

2008-09 Season Planning FAQ
The club has already begun its planning for the 2008-09 soccer season. Here are some key dates and events for you to remember:
Registration
The 2008/09 online registration and information on fees will be available here at www.cordovabaysoccer.org.
To ensure that you child is placed on a team we encourage all interested players to register early in the spring, and we offer an “Early Bird” rate for this purpose. Registrations are accepted up until October 15th, but generally cost more after June 15th.
2007-08 Player Evaluations
Divisional evaluations for U12-U18 players (i.e. boys and girls born between 1992 and 1997) will begin in late April. Some evaluations may be scheduled for May and June, depending on the availability of coaches and Technical Director. All players registered for the club in 2007-08 will receive an email from the club advising of the location, date(s) and time(s) of evaluations for their age group. Player evaluations are generally held at Lochside Park, but Claremont Secondary and Cordova Bay Elementary fields may also be used for May and June evaluation dates.
At the present time we are anticipating evaluations at the following age levels:
Boys players born 1994 1997 (U12 U15)
Girls players born 1994 1997 (U12 U15)
NOTE: Parents of a player wishing to attend evaluations at a higher age-level must first contact either the Boys Coordinator (Marty Block), or
Girls Coordinator (Tom Lee).
Minis evaluations (players born between 1998 and 2003) will be conducted in early September.
2008-09 Gold-Silver-Bronze Team Declarations
Although team declarations are largely dependent on player registration numbers and are therefore subject to change, the club is confident in forming Euros and youth teams at the following ages and competitive levels:
Boys: U12G, U12S, U13G, U13S, U14G, U14S, U15G, U17G and U17S
Girls: U12G, U12S, U13G, U13S, U15G, U15S and U18S
Parents with questions about playing opportunities for their son or daughter are invited to contact any member of the Technical Committee:
Chair Drew Smyth
Technical Director Brett Hyslop
Boys Coordinator Marty Block
Girls Coordinator Tom Lee
Coaching Applications
Coaching applications are due May 15, 2008 and selections will be confirmed by the Technical Committee by June 1, 2008 (at the latest). All 2007-08 club coaches will be notified by email advising of the coaching application process and associated timelines.
Gold Team Evaluations
Gold team try-outs will be scheduled once the Gold Coach has been confirmed for that age level. In some cases the try-outs will happen in May or June, while for others it might be August before the try-outs are conducted. Generally speaking, where there are two teams at the same age group, the silver and/or bronze coaches are not confirmed until the Gold team roster has been confirmed.
Minis and House League Assessments
U6-U11 (i.e. 1998 through 2003) player assessments will be held the weekend of September 6 & 7, 2008. An email confirming the date(s) and location will be sent to all 2008-09 registered players in August. The club plans on maintaining and expanding its current in-house program with Gordon Head Soccer Club. More information will be provided later in the summer.
Congratulations to League Champions!
- Girls U14 Gold 94s
- Boys U16 Silver Crush
